I became a horophile at an early age when I was given a box of watches my grandfather had worn. There were at least 30 manual European watches covering the decades between the first and second world wars. After I grew to adulthood and could afford to purchase, I started collecting Swiss watches.
My wife gave me a Gevril pilots chronograph with a day-date complication for my birthday a few years ago and it’s become my daily wear. I have a preference for a dress leather strap rather than the heavy leather that seems traditionally paired with the pilot style, so when I saw that Gevril offered the “Madison 20mm Alligator Pattern Leather Strap” in black and a polished steel quick deployment clasp, I immediately ordered a set. I have been very happy with the look and quality. The review I am leaving is actually for the 2nd “Madison 20mm Alligator Pattern Leather Strap” I have purchased. The first one started to wear out after about 2 years of daily use and I bought a replacement.
The strap comes without pins but the ends are pre-glued around a plastic straw, and ready to receive them. New pins had come with the quick deployment clasp as I recall, but the original would have transferred to the new strap if not. I am very happy with the look and feel of the strap and will buy more from Gevril as needed
